BEFORE THE INTERVIEW
You got the interview — nice one! Feeling ready? These tips and tricks can help you prepare.
-
Reread the job description. Do you understand what knowledge and skills we're looking for? Is there anything you want us to clarify? Check us out on social media, too.
Visit the GTFO website and Steam page, and watch a stream of GTFO to understand what our flagship game is all about.
-
Based on the job description you probably already now know a few questions you will receive from us. Write them down and try to think about what you would answer.
It is also important to remember that the interview is not only for us, it is also for you. Do not hesitate to write down and then ask us the questions you might have.
-
We'll ask situational questions to understand how you think and feel in different situations. For example, we might ask you to describe a time when communication with a colleague didn't work out and why.
These are tough questions so prepare in advance. Google common situational questions and try answering with concrete examples from your life.
You can't prepare for every question, of course. So take your time answering our situational questions. We don't expect you to reply in a split second.
-
We honestly don't care. Hoodie? Three-piece suit? Glittery dress? Whatever makes you feel comfortable. Oh, but we don't wear shoes at the office (it's a Swedish thing). So be ready for that by wearing socks or bringing some along.
-
It's cliché, but true: be yourself. This team welcomes all kinds of people. What we share is a passion for collaborative games and making them collaboratively.
Any advice for candidates?
-
I’ve talked to hundreds of candidates over the years, and the most common mistake people make is giving us the answers they think we want to hear. But I don’t want to hear what Google says about you. I want to hear what you have to say about yourself.

We love seeing a focused reel with relevant work. Try to hook us with your best work within a few seconds. Less is more, so focus on quality over quantity.

Solving complex problems with simple code is not as easy as it seems, and usually requires some creativity. Being able to point out weaknesses in your code and how you might solve them is a key strength.
